About

Last year I spent almost a month in hospital very unwell, whilst I was recovering I decided I needed a  challenge to focus on. During my recovery I watched the London Marathon on TV, having started running a couple of years ago I decided to aim for a marathon. Fast forward almost a year and I have been lucky enough to have a place in the London, Manchester & Liverpool Marathons.  All for an excellent charity.

Link Age Southwark is a vibrant local charity with an impressive track record of supporting older people to thrive in later life. They are currently supporting over 600 isolated, older people in Southwark. They recruit and train volunteers to visit older people in their homes, and organise activity groups in supported housing and community centres. They support older people who are lonely – people who live alone without family, who may have been recently bereaved or have mobility issues which stop them leaving the home independently. Their fantastic team of over 400 volunteers bring joy to people’s lives and support older people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible. For more information please see their website at www.linkagesouthwark.org

Event details

Hat Trick of Marathons

I will be completing my first ever marathon in Manchester on the 7th April. Three weeks after this, on the 28th April I will be tackling the London marathon. Then only four weeks later on the 26th May I will take on the Liverpool marathon. This completes the trilogy of marathons in only a 7 week time frame.

I’m currently making my way through a punishing training schedule that started at the beginning of December and has already included runs on Christmas Day and New Years Day mornings!

Through this effort I am hoping to raise a minimum of £1500 for this great charity which I'm sure will help me get through those painful final few miles.
