So... I got into running a couple of years ago, the furthest I've ever ran is a half marathon, so the next logical step is an ultra marathon, right!?

I'm a mum of three boys, Ben aged 9 and Ethan and Leo who turned 1 in December! They will all be joining me on some of my training runs (we already do lots of running with the double buggy!).

Running has been brilliant for my own mental health and what better way to raise money for a local charity!

I came across Muddy Fork when looking into local services and must admit I'd not heard of it before even though I go for walks around idle valley quite often.

It's estimated that around 1 in 4 people in the uk will experience a mental health problem each year. There are around 240 new referrals for depression and anxiety per month in Bassetlaw.

From working in mental health, I know how invaluable local services are for people, from learning new skills, social interaction, meeting new people and feeling part of the community. I knew that this was something that I really want to support and promote.

Raising money will certainly give me that motivation to get my trainers on and and run on these cold wintery mornings!

Dukeries 40 mile ultra marathon

The dukeries 40 is an ultra marathon which takes place on 11th May 2019. It starts in the heart of Sherwood Forest through forest trails and footpaths.

There are several different things which i hope to achieve from this fund raiser 

  • raising money for this fantastic service in our local community
  • To spread the word! whether it is something you might benefit from or you know that someone else might!
  • To inspire others to look after their own mental health through exercise, whether its running or another activity. Being active is great for your physical health and mental health!
