Colchester Borough Council's 3 PEAK CHALLENGE
Members of Colchester Borough Council's Community Service are joining together on the first weekend of July to conquer the three peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) climbing one after the other in 24 hours! We are raising money for a fantastic local charity, St. Helena Hospice, which provides all manner of care to people in our community with life-limiting illnesses - whatever age or condition, St. Helena Hospice offers a wide range of holistic care that is so valuable to both the individual and the families affected.
We have a team of 12 which varies in age and experience.. our current excitement will surely be tested by dread and exhaustion at some point but we're in it together all the way for such a deserving cause.
Three Peak Challenge
The challenge is simply to climb to the peak of the three highest points in Great Britain in 24 hours or under!
We will be beginning in Scotland to climb Ben Nevis first, starting at Glen Nevis at 5pm on Friday.
When we've returned from the top (eta 11pm) we'll get some shuteye in the mini buses while travelling through the night over to Scafell Pike in the Lake District and begin the climb to the summit from Wasdale at 5am on Saturday.
Finally, our super supportive drivers will whizz us over the boarder to Wales where we'll take on the final challenge of Snowdon. We'll aim to start the climb at 1pm Saturday from Pen-y-Pas...
And return victorious to Llanberis car park by 5pm!
