Running 42km in Uganda to support young women
On the 2nd June I will be participating in one of my toughest challenges, running Uganda Marathon to help raise funds for the Masaka community.
Donations no longer accepted
I have decided to run this marathon to raise funds for Chedra who's goal is to support 50 girls to re-enter the educational system and gain vocational skills by the end of 2019. Children who have to drop out of school are far more vulnerable to young pregnancy, child marriage and contracting STI's/ That's why Chedra are looking to create a sustainable income generator that will give opportunities to vulnerable community members.
As part of my time in Uganda I will get to visit the charity and spend a couple of days to see how the funds will be spent, I will be updating everyone on my journey with plenty of photo's to see where the money is going.
I have been told that this will be the toughest marathon I have ever done, with a 9 hour cut off and an expectation of adding 25% to my worse marathon time this is going to be hard, especially with the heat!
