13 year olds, William Lund, William Alderson and Sam Gillson have been friends since the age of 3.
These three remarkable boys want to show their support to Lucy, William Lund’s mum, who has been recently diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Triple-Negative Breast Cancer is different from the three more common types of breast cancer. It is harder to treat and aggressive. Because it is aggressive and rare, battling triple-negative breast cancer can be difficult, and fewer treatment options are available.
One of the common side effects of the Chemotherapy treatment which is required by patients is hair loss, so the boys are Braving the Shave and having their hair cut off, the boys can hopefully raise a lot of money for a little known cancer research charity which is close to Lucy's heart, which is known as Shine Bright Foundation.
Shine Bright Foundation exists to raise funding to aid the research into Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), promote early diagnosis by raising awareness of symptoms, and to provide support to individuals directly affected by the illness.
In 3 weeks time the boys are going to have their hair cut off and can hopefully raise lots of money in the process. A video of the event will be taken as evidence and all donations will be given to Shine Bright Foundation.
