Friends (Maltsters) from Malt the Brewery in Prestwood, Bucks are taking on the National 3 Peaks Challenge.  We decided to do this to raise money for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance a Charity that is often taken for granted but one that as residents of Buckinghamshire we may all need one day.  The Brewery and its customers do a huge amount for the community and this Challenge follows a long chain of events where we are collectively giving something back to our local charitable causes. We are a team of 8, comprised of 6 walkers and 2 drivers....

Event details

National 3 Peaks Challenge

Having completed the 3 Peaks at the age of 34 and 44  I have always hoped to continue the trend - so when my 54th birthday arrived I suggested to friends at our local Brewery that we should form a team.  The rest is history and we started the walk on 30 June. Climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours is not as easy as it sounds, but we were up for the challenge.  We started with Ben Nevis in the afternoon on Saturday 30th June, driving thru the night to ascend Scafell Pike early Sunday morning 1st July and travelling into Wales to complete the challenge with Snowdon on Sunday afternoon. The temperatures that weekend were exceptionally high and all the walkers taking part were struggling to keep hydrated.  Clear skies however meant the views from the top were superb, see some of the photos in our gallery.  Despite blisters, aches, pains and the odd expletive, our intrepid team completed the challenge in 28h and 20m.  A hugely creditable outcome given the extraordinary weather we are having.  A huge thanks to all the people who supported us and donated to our cause.  Without these funds TVAA wouldn’t be able to provide this emergency service.
