A group of 8-14 year old children tackle one of Scotland's highest mountains to help children in Ukraine's war zone have a better life.
Raising money for
ChildAid to Eastern Europe
We are Emily, Charlotte, Mara, Kit, Lola, Georgia and Ula (all of us aged between 8-14 years) and together we want to make a difference to the lives of children in Ukraine. Kamianske is a day's tank ride into Ukraine's conflict zone - poverty, neglect and abuse are rife. At the moment the orphans and children with disabilities of Kamianske have a small refuge provided by Child Aid in which to meet, learn, socialize and play. But conditions are spartan and heating is minimal, there is no equipment for the older children and nowhere comfortable to hangout. We want to change that. Please help!
Junior mountain hike
As a group of seven children (with nine accompanying adults who have hopefully told you all about our mission!) we are going to tackle one of Scotland's toughest mountains on 13 April 2018 to raise money for children in one of Ukraine's most notorious war zones. We come from all over the UK, some of us have never climbed a mountain before, but we are determined to reach the summit of Ben Lawers. The tenth tallest mountain in the UK at 1214m we anticipate a tough, exhilarating mission. (Disclaimer: due to the extreme weather in Feb/Mar we may have to swap Ben Lawers for Schiehallion, at 1083m it is also a munroe but a safer climb in difficult conditions). The adults are in charge of maps, food, kit, we are in charge of motivation, fitness and team spirit. We hope to reach the summit and return to base camp within ten hours and hope you will sponsor us along the way. We have paid for all our own kit and travel so any money donated will go to renovating the Child Aid's new children's home in Kamianske and bringing it into the 21st century! Every child deserves a safe warm space to play, meet and eat. Thank You for your support! We'll send you a photograph from the top!
