New Sporting Chapter for Librarians
Help us build a library for the fantastic Kilimanjaro Young Girls in Need charity in Tanzania!
Donations accepted until Closed
Hello. We are Becca and Joe, two bibliophiles on a mad mission to push ourselves waaaay out of our comfort zones...
We're not what you would call particularly athletic specimens, and much prefer devouring books (and, indeed, cake) to undertaking tests of physical endurance. Yet we feel so passionately about the Surbiton High School/KYGN library project, that we are doing just that, and competing in the Thames Turbo Sprint Triathlon on Monday 30th May as a means of raising money for KYGN.
Every penny you sponsor us with will go toward the library we are building, which will be opened and furnished by Joe, School Nurse Anne McCool and 14 lucky SHS pupils in July 2016. We need your help to ensure this project - some two years in the making - is completed, and your money will not only help change the lives of the KYGN children, but the 14 SHS girls too, who will get so much from their experience out in Tanzania this summer.
Thank you! :-)
Tri for KYGN
A sprint triathlon is a rigorous test for the most seasoned of athletes. For a pair of people whose idea of a workout is going out to the pub with people from work, it is an altogether more difficult proposition...
A back-to-back 500m swim, 21.5k bike ride and 5k run is what we'll be doing on 30th May, and we're already being put through our paces with a training regime devised by Surbiton High School's resident super-fit triathlon/marathon veteran. Hard going doesn't begin to cover it...but it will be so worth it when we picture the delight that will be on the KYGN children's faces at the sight of their new library. So any donation you can make, no matter how small, will be worth all the sweat and tears that we know lie ahead of us...
