Andy, Suzy, Jeff & Friends Run for MPS
We are running the Bath Half in aid of the MPS Society which supports our family members as they live with Fabry disease.
Donations accepted until Closed
Thanks for taking the time to look at our page.
In 2013 many members of our family were diagnosed with a rare degenerative genetic condition called Fabry disease.
We are running/jogging/waddling (delete as appropriate) the Bath Half to raise money for MPS Society which wonderfully supports individuals and families affected by diseases such as Fabry.
Fabry disease is a genetic mutation that means that the body's cells are not cleansed of all cellular waste on a regular basis. This means that this waste builds up over time, impairing the performance of the cells and, ultimately, the body's vital organs.
Thankfully treatment is available to slow the deterioration though the disease is not curable. Treatment involves a fortnightly drug infusion which provides the body with some of the missing enzyme.
MPS Society carry out research into new treatments and provide all important support to families such as ours. They're absolutely critical to us as we learn what it means to live with the condition.
Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated by the whole family.
Bath Half for MPS
We're running on 12th March and have been in extensive* training. We're all looking forward to the challenge though, let's face it, not all of us are built for distance running!
15th Feb Update: Thank you so much to those of you who have already donated so generously already. We are really astonished by how kind you've been. The pressure is on to finish now!
I thought it was worth a quick name check for those running for MPS:
Jeff "Iron Man" Elliott
Suzy "Count Me In" Elliott
Jonny "Dark Horse" Hargrave
Jerram "Flying" Bird
Andy "Run, Fat Boy, Run" Battle
1st March update:
Thank you so much for all of the generous support. We are nearly at our target which is simply amazing.
Training is, well, going...and the big day looms but there is no doubt that people's generosity will spur us on as we lug ourselves around Bath in 10 days' time.
Also, a big welcome to our newest runner, Mrs Beckett Snr (mother of one of my colleagues), who has joined our happy band. She is likely to put some of us to shame, but we're very grateful for her support!
