About

I have decided to run this year's London marathon as a bumblebee. Why? Anyone who knows me will know that I run (a lot!) and have never before asked for funding. However, this year I have decided to try to set an official Guinness World Record as the fastest person to run a marathon dressed as an insect in order to raise funds for a truly amazing charity I volunteer for called Refugees At Home. They provide short term and emergency accommodation for homeless asylum seekers by matching them with people with a spare room who are willing to let them stay in their home. I am amazed how many people are charitable and good willed enough to do this and currently there are over 140 refugees in a home somewhere in the UK every single night thanks to them. The refugees are mostly destitute people who have fled wars and human rights abuse who are awaiting the outcome of their asylum applications and are therefore not entitled to work or receive any benefits. The charity has very low running costs with no offices and just two employees so donations are much better used than in large bureaucratic charities. Find out more about them here: www.refugeesathome.org

Event details

London Marathon 2018

I ran London Marathon on April 22nd 2018 dressed as a bumblebee to try for a world record as the fastest marathon dressed as an insect

As you'll see from the photo, my costume was large and very shaggy, which was obviously ideal for the hottest London Marathon on record! Having support from so many people and a cause I am reallly passionate about that would benefit has made all the difference.
