Imam Hussain Leadership Challenge
Arabeen is that special time of year where everyone reconnects with the message of Imam Hussain.
This year like last we are undertaking the Arbaeen Leadership Challenge. To provide the necessary infrastructure for the trip and the challenge we need monies.
Last Arabeen after walking 60 miles across the Iraqi desert from Najaf to #Karbala, Iraq, our youth from Manchester met up with young orphaned boys from Karbala.
It was an enormously positive experience for the youth. Please support this year again.
Arbaeen 2017 Imam Hussain Leadership Challenge
Last year the orphans we met in Karbala had lost their fathers to terrorism and war in Iraq. We shared lunch with some 50 of them.
The kids munched through their lunch. The chicken and chips and the meat pizzas. It seemed as if they hadn't eaten meat in many months.
Each of us was paired up with a kid, to talk to and get to know them a little.
There was an 8 year old kid Jawad. He was in year3 at school. His father had been killed. He wanted to play AngryBirds on my mobile phone (unfortunately I didn't have any games!).
One strong feeling that we were left heartbroken with was that these kids had been left bereft of any male father figures, role models or friends. Their grief was written on their faces and painted in their eyes. Clearly impacting on their upbringing. No one to look out for their welfare.
Help us deliver this experience for the community once more.
