Pedal power to greece!
After the most amazing journey last year, i've taken on the challenge again to cycle to Greece...crazy ideas...!
I'm super excited to join Harri and Oli in organising the ride this year which has been an exciting collaboration. Along with all the other cyclists this year we'll venture through eastern Europe, unknown lands, views, hills, lakes, seas...Its going to be tough, laughter and tears i'm sure...
Arriving to Khora, where I have worked with in the past and they are still providing amazing practical support such as food, clothes, child care and more, along with creating a community, a safe space for those needed and wanting to find solidarity with one another.
Thank you for reading and supporting me with my journey
London to Athens 2018
A group of not-so-serious cyclists have set themselves the serious challenge of cycling between London and Athens. The ride is a relay-style challenge, with each participant taking on a week or two of the overall trip.
We are fundraising for Khora; a grassroots, proactive association running a community centre in Athens. Their centre provides basic and human needs for people without freedom of movement. This includes free nutritious food, clothing, education, access to information and a safe space to build relationships and relax.
Equally important to what they offer, is how they offer it. Khora is run by volunteers from all over the world. Its team includes members of the local Greek community, the refugee community and other international volunteers too. It prioritises dignity and respect in every service it provides.
The £60,000 we are aiming to raise will pay for the rent for their community centre for an entire year. The running costs of a project are typically the hardest to find funding for, so it of particular importance to be able to provide this for Khora, to secure a stable future for the project. All fund-raised money goes to Khora, and none on the ride.
