Anne-Marie Delrosa Birmingham Marathon
Raising money for a new Scouting & Community Centre and teenage mental health charity -YoungMinds
Donations no longer accepted
I am a keen runner, having run three marathons and a number of half marathons in the past.
I've decided to take on this challenge to support two good causes:
A new Scouting and Community centre in Stroud
Scouting provides young people with a great opportunity to experience the outdoors and to learn many new skills which will help them later in life. The current scouting and community centre is no longer fit for purpose, so the committee has embarked on an ambitious fundraising plan to build a new centre, which will not only support scouting, but also the many organisations that currently use and could potentially use the new building, including a homeless charity, young carers, music and dance groups.
YoungMinds, the leading UK charity championing young people's mental health and wellbeing
Some startling stats:
1 in 10 children have a diagnosable mental health disorder – that’s roughly 3 children in every classroom
Suicide is the most common cause of death for boys aged between 5-19 years, and the second most common for girls of this age
Birmingham International Marathon
The Birmingham International Marathon takes place on Sunday 15 October 2017.
The 26.2-mile event will start at Alexander stadium, the home of British Athletics. The course will take in a number of the city’s most iconic landmarks before finishing in the city centre.
