About

Hello! I have signed up to join Thighs of Steel - a cycle of 660km from Brussels to Stuttgart to help raise money for Khora, a crucial humanitarian co-op that was founded to provide basic services to refugee communities in Athens, Calais, Serbia and Lesvos.

I am not much of a cyclist and the Brussel's to Stuttgart leg was chosen on the assumption of it being a relatively flat encounter. A quick but slightly overdue google suggests otherwise. We will be climbing 7060m over six days.  Another quick google tells me that Mount Everest stands at around 8000m.

Every donation will help a huge amount in taking these thighs of mine to news highs and offer the moral support that with a bit of training and chamois cream will get me there. Much more importantly every penny will help make the lives of those who have lost their homes a bit better. So please give what you can. London to Athens 2018

A group of not-so-serious cyclists have set themselves the serious challenge of cycling between London and Athens. The ride is a relay-style challenge, with each participant taking on a week or two of the overall trip.

We are fundraising for Khora; a grassroots, proactive association running a community centre in Athens. Their centre provides basic and human needs for people without freedom of movement. This includes free nutritious food, clothing, education, access to information and a safe space to build relationships and relax.

Equally important to what they offer, is how they offer it. Khora is run by volunteers from all over the world. Its team includes members of the local Greek community, the refugee community and other international volunteers too. It prioritises dignity and respect in every service it provides.

The £60,000 we are aiming to raise will pay for the rent for their community centre for an entire year. The running costs of a project are typically the hardest to find funding for, so it of particular importance to be able to provide this for Khora, to secure a stable future for the project. All fund-raised money goes to Khora, and none on the ride.
