Mt Kili climb 4 Africa's children's education
Africa's Children in Education (ACE) works in Tanzania to provide the opportunity for children living in very disadvantaged communities to attend school. In 6 year short years they have built and developed Arise community School in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro - now bringing education to 363 children.
There's much left to do though. Their final classroom is built but still needs furnishing. If we can raise £3,000, that'll pay for the desk, chairs etc to be made by local carpenters in Tanzania. It's a small charity so you'll know that all of your money has gone directly to enabling 'seats for bums'.
I've chosen this charity for three main reasons; 1) The money goes direct to enabling education and doesn't get lost in bureaucracy. 2) My working life takes me across Africa and I really want to give something back. 3) Education is the long term answer
Poverty still blights much of Africa. And education is really the only long term way to change that. So please help make a real, long term, direct and sustainable difference.
Climbing Africa's highest mountain
I'm climbing a hill. A big hill. 2/3rd's of Everest like big. But I can get up my local park hill now without stopping, so I'll be fine. 50% of normal oxygen at the top, but i used to go on the tube every day, so that sounds fine ! 37c at the bottom, -10c at the top, but I work in Dubai then come back to the UK, so again fine. It does look a bit hard though, so I'm taking 8 days over it.
Finally - my working life has brought me the privilege of having friends and colleagues spread around the world. So in these days of Brexit dominating UK airwaves, lets build a smorgasbord of countries - when you donate, just call out your country where you are in the comments. #England !
