Ally Dickaty's Christmas Song
Best known for vox/guitar in rock band the Virginmarys.
I've been writing, playing and releasing music since I can remember.
I like to address what I see as societies ills and try to express my life as I feel it, in the hope that it resonates with like minds who don't relate to mainstream music and media.
The dramatic rise of homelessness since 2010 is something that I find completely unnacceptable.
"There was an increase of 16% from 2015 to 2016, while since 2010 rough sleeping estimates show an increase of 134%." (homeless.org.uk)
134%? Everyone deserves food and shelter and a chance to turn things around.
Last Christmas I toured around the UK and Ireland to raise food for foodbanks, raising over 2 tonnes of food.
This year I've written a Christmas song to raise as much money and awareness for homelessness as possible.
The charity I have chosen is called Cold Nights who operate in Manchester.
The song is available to everyone as a free download from http://www.thevirginmarys.com/dontletgo
However my suggested minimum donation is £1 simply for the track. This is down to you of course, at the very least I hope you enjoy the song.
Writing, recording, performing the song.
Writing, producing, performing, recording the track and promoting it as much as I can to raise money for, and awareness of homelessness.
I have already been blown over by the support I have received, and many, many hours work have already been put into this all free of charge.
Karl Chapman and Jen Madden filmed the video.
John Surdevan provided NQ Studio space filming.
Mark Wainwright mixed and mastered the track.
Jordan McLachlan worked and sent out the press release.
Collectively this would have all cost a hell of a lot of money.
I hope this song can warm peoples hearts and raise smiles. Help to bring back the true spirit of Christmas rather than encourage more material "stuff' we really don't need.
I'm promoting non material wealth, warmth, shelter, food, friends, family and love, if you can't be happy with these then it runs deeper than a flat screen TV.
100% of everything raised will go to the cause.
Here ends the sermon ;)
Whatever you decide to do this Christmas, may it be fun filled and everything you want it to be.
All the best
