Meg and Alex: Back in the saddle
Last year we cycled from Genoa to Rome as part of the epic Thighs of Steel cycle odyssey and helped raise £50,000 for Help Refugees. The money raised went to help set up Khora, a humanitarian co-operative foundation in Athens providing services for refugees forced from their homes by war, poverty and climate change. Khora provides nutritious meals as well as a whole range of services including legal advice, dentistry, self defence and music classes and children's play projects. The money raised last year is already making a huge difference.
So this year we are going to do it again.... but cycle much further.
Alex is cycling from Milan to Dubrovnik and Meg will join from Trieste. This trip will be 1400 km with 15,000m of climbing. Again, we cover our own costs entirely and all money we fundraise goes directly to Help Refugees to continue the amazing work being done at Khora.

Thighs of Steel 2017
We are fundraising for Help Refugees, who fund small grassroots refugee organisations. The specific group we are fundraising for is Khora, a co-operative made up of volunteers from all over the world, including the local Greek community, the refugee community and other international volunteers. Their community centre in Athens provides not only basic needs such as free nutritious food, warm clothing and access to dental care, but also social needs such as education, child care, access to information and a safe space to build relationships and relax.
