Alexandra Wing Walks for CornerHouse
I am doing a Wing Walk to raise funds for CornerHouse mental health charity. What better way than being strapped to the top of a plane going 135mph!?
Raising money for
I heard about CornerHouse through a chance meeting at a debate on mental health in Woking. The charity was keen to get people involved in publicity and fundraising so I offered my services as I see it as invaluable for people in Surrey who need help and support with mental health issues.
Having been through the 'system' myself and had first-hand experience of being a 'service user' in mental health, I wanted to put something back into CornerHouse.
I always wanted to do a wing walk - in fact I'd been thinking about it for ages - so I thought why not take part in the challenge and raise money for CornerHouse at the same time. I am paying for the cost of the wing walk with my own money thus all proceeds will go direct to CornerHouse. I have also benefited from CornerHouse as I regularly attend the Mindfulness drop-in sessions.
CornerHouse supports people experiencing mental ill health including depression, anxiety, eating disorders and for carers. They have regular walks as well as mindfulness and they facilitate an out of hours Safe Haven, a café style drop in service for people/carers experiencing emotional distress/mental health crisis.
I've always wanted to do a Wing Walk and am passionate about raising funds for a local mental health charity, CornerHouse. So I have decided to combine the two..
The Wing Walk will involve me being strapped to the top of a plane going at 135mph and a fly past at 50 feet!
