Alan MacKenzie's Kilimanjaro Climb for RNIB
Never challenge shy I jumped at the opportunity to summit Mount Kilimanjaro with a couple of friends. I have been training hard over the past 6 months to ensure I am physically fit enough for the climb and am excited and eager to start!
To climb Mount Kilimanjaro raising money for RNIB
At almost 6,000 metres high, Kilimanjaro is not a technically challenging mountain, however, dealing with the altitude as someone who has lived entirely at sea level is the real challenge. Aiming to travel between 1500 - 2000 metres per day, to allow the body to adjust over 70% of climbers suffer acute altitude sickness attempting to climb Kili.
