The WISH Centre Christmas Appeal 2018

For many people Christmas is the best time of the year however, for others, it can be the worst. Many of us find that the pressures and unrealistic expectations of the holidays make it difficult to cope. This can be especially difficult for young people who are dealing with difficult circumstances such as: bereavement, domestic violence, poverty, or abuse. At WISH we make sure we are here for those children and young people who need our help, but we couldn’t do it without your support.

This year, we want to make sure young people at WISH feel cared for this Christmas and are planning an outing and presents under the tree. But we need your help to make this happen. In the next 12 days leading up to Christmas we will be sharing the stories of some of the young people we have helped at WISH. We would be so grateful if you could take part in our Christmas appeal, share our stories, donate if you feel able to, and help spread the word.

With levels of self harm having increased by 68% among girls aged 13 to 16 in just 3 years, the services we provide at WISH are needed more than ever. We have been very proud of the work we have been able to do at WISH this year. An evaluation by the Centre for Mental Health found that we had an 81% recovery rate for self harm and that we reduced A&E visits for self harm by 95%. WISH doesn't get government or health funding and are solely reliant on grants and donations.
