Breaking Through The Lens industry event with tve

In 2018, less than 8% of the top 100 films in the US were directed by women. Breaking Through The Lens (BTTL) connects female directors to top tier investors at Cannes Film Festival. BTTL’s event partner is charity tve, organisers of the tve Global Sustainability Film Awards. Support both tve and BTTL through this event.

Inclusivity and sustainability is not a trend, it is the new way of doing business. Support tve to inspire positive change for a greener, fairer world through film, and support BTTL to bring about an important gender shift within the film industry.

People widely decry the lack of gender equality in the film industry, yet the problems persevere. BTTL works to solve this practically at the most important level - financing. The initiative carefully selects ten feature films in development to be presented to financiers at Cannes Film Festival.

For this industry event, BTTL have partnered with the like-minded not-for-profit media agency, tve, which has 35 years’ experience creating powerful, effective communications about the environment and development.

tve trustee Surina Narula MBE founded the annual Global Sustainability Film Awards in 2012 at BAFTA. The Awards recognise forward-thinking companies worldwide whose films show how they are addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Awards promote and inspire further sustainable action amongst industry peers.
