Toy Sale 2018 - The Exchange Project

The Exchange Project recycles nearly new baby goods that would otherwise be thrown away, making a constant supply of children’s clothing and equipment available for families on low incomes. Much like a library service, parents/guardians can come and swap their baby items for items in stock.  Since opening, The Exchange Project has attracted a regular client base of more than 500 customers who also see the weekly venue as a useful forum to network with other parents. From time to time, the project also hosts visits from health and welfare advisers so that parents can pick up the latest information and advice in connection with their children’s development and wellbeing. Every Christmas the project organises the Toy Sale with new or in very good condition toys to be sold to the members for a fraction of the retail price. This gives the opportunity to parents-members of deprived background to purchase presents for their children in very reasonable prices for all to feel the happiness of the festive season.

Isn’t it amazing! Run by a group of committed volunteers and funded by East End Community Foundation, The Exchange has been running for 12 years. It started as a suggestion; founded as an experiment; spread as a rumor; established as a necessity and now it is a legacy! A 12 year old project from which hundreds of parents have benefited in East London.
