Grand Piano Appeal

St Martin’s Church is known as an excellent concert venue. It’s a beautiful building with a fine acoustic, appreciated by musicians and audiences alike. Our current piano is 75 years old and ready for retirement. We need a good, medium-range grand piano, suitable for the building and all its uses. It will be a great asset to the music-loving community of Worcester.

Music at St Martin's launched its Grand Piano Appeal on Saturday 23 June 2018 with a whole day event of piano playing by professional musicians, enthusiastic amateurs and students, with party pieces, fun items for two, four and six hands, an evening violin and piano recital of popular classics, and a few surprises! It was a great day of music-making, and the Seiler piano that Vale Pianos of Evesham kindly loaned us for the event sounded lovely.

We are very grateful for many generous donations made on the day, and we have a number of fundraising events planned - see our website for details.

At St Martin's we are very keen to open our doors to the community as part of our mission, and to share the building of which we are custodians.

The Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra is based at St Martin’s and we have regular visits from Worcester Cathedral Chamber Choir, Worcester Male Voice Choir, Severn Arts (formerly Worcestershire Youth Music) and local primary schools, among many others. The piano is an essential instrument in many of these concerts, as well as in our monthly Coffee Concerts for charity and Tiny Tunes - live classical music for babies and toddlers - held in association with the Elgar School of Music.
