Purchase and Restoration of Stanier 8F 45170

This project will provide funds to complete the restoration of this locomotive. The estimated restoration cost is £250,000+. The locomotive will be stored on public display in the Museum for the next few years while awaiting its place in the restoration queue. The intention is to ultimately return her to a standard that will permit potential operation on the mainline. The locomotive is 95% complete and in a good state of preservation having been subject to an overhaul very late in its working career and being stored in an arid climate. This is the Society's only example of an ex-mainline LMS designed tender locomotive. Please support this project and help to return this Glasgow built locomotive to steam at Bo’ness. Your donation will be used to: Restore the locomotive and meet the ongoing maintenance costs
This appeal is your opportunity to help restore this remarkable engine for future generations. Now is the time to join us by making a one off donation or better still, become a regular monthly donator/Covenantor.

In the event of insufficient funds being raised to make restoration of the locomotive financially viable, or the Society being unable to go ahead and complete the project; your donations will be put to another steam locomotive restoration project. Conversely if the project is oversubscribed your donations will be held for the longer term care of the locomotive.
We cannot thank you enough for your donation as every penny counts! There is no donation to small or large!
