Setting Up Shop
Setting Up Shop
We had a trial run in the shop and it's apparent we need more space! So we want to build a mezzanine and that is going to cost us a bit more. So we've upped our target please help us get there.
Since July 2016 we've helped around 1,500 refugees and worked across 13 sites in Greece. Our mobile shop means that offer a choice of clothes, but we are limited to what we can transport.
One lady we all remember is Khaliba, she'd worked in a shop in Syria and helped us set up, folding the clothes better than any of us. Her youngest child Maryam walked out beaming dressed in top to toe pink. However when it came to find clothes for Khaliba, our choice of small coats was diminished. She really wanted a new coat, but this time we didn't have one for her. She was frustrated and upset. It felt so
wrong that we couldn't help her. It wasn't fair on Khaliba. That day we let her down. Our system let her down. We don't want this to happen again, so we want to open a shop.
In the long term it saves us money so we could provide a wider range of items for a bigger population, glasses, healthcare, more for new borns and pregnant mums. Opening the shop would free up time and resources. We like a challenge so we hope to be open by the end of May and any money left over after renovations will be spent on running the shop.
