Santiago de Compostela Walk

I shall be taking 3 months to walk 1500 miles (2400km) from Halkyn in north Wales to Santiago de Compostela in North West Spain.
I have dreamed of walking to Santiago since I was 18 years old (I am now 60 something) so this is an adventure of a lifetime. Why am I doing it? Perhaps I'll be able to answer that when I get back. While I contemplate my navel (or whatever you do on a very long walk), I also hope to be raising LOTS OF MONEY for Jamie's Fund, particularly since we will have begun the new mental health unit at Kisiizi hospital in Uganda and it should be well on the way to being finished by the time I get back. All donations will go to Jamie's Fund and are gratefully received. So thank you for all your support.

In the Middle Ages people made a pilgrimage to the shrine of a Saint to make penance for something they'd done. Today pilgrimage is as much about the journey as about the arrival. I intend to enjoy both! The walk will be down the Welsh Border (Offa's Dyke) and then to Normandy via Portsmouth. In France there is a series of long distance footpaths that will take me to the Pyrenees and then on, via the Way of St James (The Camino) to Santiago.
