Big performances in Chippenham and Water for school children in Kenya
Raising money for a water supply for Obino School in Kenya. Most of Obino School’s pupils come from families that work on the sugarcane farms in Kolwa, Kisumu. Most of their parents spend the whole day working in the plantations. With no lunches at school and no parents at home most go hungry each school day. A day a week is lost to illness in many ‘dry’ schools. At Obino it's a massive two days a week. As there is no water at the school, parents are told to send their children to school with water. So cholera, malaria and typhoid are common due to drinking untreated water from seasonal streams. When it does rain, the area gets swampy causing outbreaks of the parasitic bilharzia. All of this can change.
