Murubindi Batwa Primary School Building Appeal

These children are from the Batwa community of Murubindi in south western Uganda, a remote rural location over 8,000 feet above sea level and two and a half hours away  from the nearest town. They attend a primary school provided by AICM. There is no other school for them. In rural areas the Ugandan government makes little or  no educational provision for them. There are over 100 children at the school with four teachers sharing two dilapidated and inadequate class rooms. There is no storeage for equipment, no staff room, very basic cooking facilities for essential school meals, one very ancient and exhausted two stance latrine and no adequate teachers accommodation. FAICM seek to fund AICM to build four new class rooms in two blocks,  a teachers` house and two pit latrines. We have a builder prepared to build , despite the difficulties of such a remote location. Please would you help us raise the £90,000 needed for this project so that we can give these children the school they deserve.

The Batwa are an indigenous minority ethnic group, originally hunter gatherers from the rain forests . Evicted from their homes in 1990 , they received no compensation from government. AICM have been helping these communities for over thirty years. As part of this
they provide two Batwa primary schools. In 2017 FAICM helped build much needed new classrooms and latrines at Rwamahano primary school . With your help we seek to provide this much needed infrastucture at Murubindi. Please help.
