MND Appeal

The work led by Bristol-based neurosurgeon Professor Steven Gill brings combines three elements: Gene Therapy with Viral Vectors delivered via Convection Enhanced Delivery CED.

Professor Gill, known for his pioneering work with delivering drugs directly into the brain with CED to treat Parkinson’s Disease and brain tumours, has conducted a number of pre-clinical tests with gene therapy targeting Motor Neurone Disease.

Professor Steven Gill said: “The standard treatments that are currently available for Motor Neurone Disease may enhance a patient’s quality of life but there is yet to be a therapy to combat the disease. Backed by Funding Neuro, our project has the potential to offer a fast track approach to a neuroprotective and regenerative treatment for the disease.

The cost of the pre-clinical stage is £150,000.  Thanks to My Name’5 Doddie Foundation we are a third of the way there!  Please help support our campaign by donating.

Thank you for your support.

I remember watching Doddie Weir play. He was a wonderful rugby player. Seeing him now and what he is doing just shows how big a man he is.

Taking a short time out of life to make a small donation in the hope of contributing to the bigger positive picture of successfully finding a cure for MND and other neurological disorders. Which are more common than you think. So easy to donate.
