Supernova Kelpies challenge & Tilli 10k
Laura was adopted shortly after her birth in the early 90s. She found her maternal birth family aged 18 and had the joyous experience of having them attend her wedding, with both her adoptive and birth mum helping her into her wedding dress on her special day.
This year, Laura found her paternal birth family, with the sad discovery of her birth father’s grave. As Laura explores her simultaneous grief over his death, and joy over the discovery of brothers, a sister, aunties, uncles and cousins, she wishes to do something positive to help others affected by adoption.
Laura believes that the voices of adoptees are the ones which should be amplified the loudest, as the people who have experienced the profound loss of their families, their roots and their lineage.
Laura is passionate about adoptees being given full and clear information in order to allow them to find their families of origin if and when they decide they wish to. Laura supports the aim of Birthlink to support the wellbeing and promote the welfare of all people affected by adoptions with a Scottish connection.
