JCI Southampton Does The Great South Run!

JCI Southampton Does The Great South Run!

I'm Mike Cooper, and I want to do something to help support the Murray Parish Trust, the charity of the year for JCI Southampton. So I'm putting a team together to run the Great South Run: it's the world’s leading 10 mile running event, and will take place on Sunday 21 October 2018, on a course that goes through the iconic sights of Portsmouth and Southsea. So far it's just me, but I'm hoping to twist more people's arms to get involved - if anyone would like to join me please drop me an email!

The MPT are currently raising £2 million to build a new Children's Emergency Department at University Hospital Southampton. This is a cause very close to my heart, as both my daughters have had to visit the current A&E at UHS over the years and I feel the facilities are very limited there. The staff do such an amazing job, but I feel so much more good could be done in the new, state of the art unit, which will have more space, and where children will be treated separately from adults.  With this in mind I strongly support the MPT's 2 Million Steps campaign. Every penny you donate will make a difference - and will also be automatically doubled by Government matchfunding!

The Murray Parish Trust was set up by actors Sarah Parish and James Murray after they lost their daughter Ella-Jayne to a congenital heart defect, and is dedicated to the advancement of paediatric emergency medicine. It is a small local charity with minimal overheads, thus maximising the funds that go to this critical project.
