100 Jāṅgala Wi-Fi Systems in the Field in 2019

In a humanitarian emergency — such as the ongoing refugee crisis —  access to the internet is invaluable for the people affected and the people assisting.

The Worldwide Tribe is crowdfunding donations to help Jāṅgala reach its aim to raise £300,000 and deploy 100 additional Wi-Fi systems in the field in 2018, reaching over 150,000 people.

Jāṅgala is a UK charitable start-up developing and deploying easy to use, low cost Wi-Fi systems for a number of emergency internet needs. With funding and support from the Worldwide Tribe, the Jāṅgala team built the first Wi-Fi network in the Calais Jungle and have deployed six prototype systems which have already connected at least 20,000 refugees in France and Greece. These systems have helped five grassroots organisations deliver vital Wi-Fi to the refugees with whom they’re working.

In 2018, Jāṅgala aims to deploy 50-100 further systems, reaching over 150,000 people. Jāṅgala's long-term mission is to create systems that can reduce dramatically the cost and time needed to deliver emergency internet access for any humanitarian need.
