IBS Trial: Phase 2 Fundraising Appeal

Researchers at the University of Leeds are working with clinicians and patients at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to investigate homeopathy as a possible treatment for IBS.

Phase one of this project, involving 100 participants, has now been completed and the preliminary results are extremely promising.

A final £15K is now needed to expand the trial (phase two). This is essential to ensure the final results are 'statistically significant' and reliable conclusions can be drawn from this innovative study.

This trial involves 3 groups of patients receiving usual care (conventional medicine), usual care plus supportive listening, or usual care plus homeopathy. This unusual trial design allows us to find out whether any improvements seen in the IBS patients receiving homeopathy is due to the ‘time and attention’ they receive during the homeopathic consultation, or the therapeutic effect of the homeopathic medicines. Happy to help here with my little donation. £15,000 is not large in grant terms though - I hope this target can be reached.
