Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival

Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival is an annual event celebrating the city's architecture, culture & heritage through a free programme of open buildings and events. Each September we throw open the doors of over 100 iconic historic buildings, theatres, museum stores, factories, studios, breweries & more, across the city, to the public, for free!

We have a dedicated children's programme of activities and put on a programme of over 100 other guided walks, talks and events which has encompassed everything from chapati making workshops, to synchronised swimming demonstrations, to historic tours of Glasgow's medieval past and a live classical string concert in an empty swimming pool.

We try to get people excited about Glasgow's incredible heritage by giving the public opportunities to see inside buildings not normally open to them, learn about Glasgow's heritage and enjoy unique events and activities.

The week-long event is only made possible thanks to the help of funders, sponsors and donors. Without this support Glasgow Building Preservation Trust would be unable to deliver the festival and continue to put on events for free.

In the past five years the festival has welcomed more than 89,000 visitors. With continued popularity comes an increasing demand to re-imagine the programme, print and distribute as many brochures as possible and put on new unique events. Each year GBPT is tasked with raising the funds to make the most basic things like printing our brochures possible. Your donation allows us to focus less on fundraising and more on opening up new buildings and programming exciting events and activities.

The conversations I had over Doors Open Days week were a real highlight as I connected with passionate people in amazing places- I learned so much more than if I had visited alone. Such a great opportunity to learn new, important stories.

Another great year of visits. I am trying to calculate how many visits we have made over the years.
