Emergency Silliness

The Flying Seagulls have met thousands of kids caught up in the refugee crisis. We see the same thing every time: tired, worn out, scared faces. Boredom is a huge problem. Then we turn up. If you believe in the power of play – clowning, magic, music and games – please help us deliver Emergency Silliness where it is needed most, in the UK & around the world. Over the last 18 months we’ve run projects in the UK and India, but our main focus has been child refugees in Europe. Having some playtime is so valuable. Even in the most horrendous conditions it only takes a few minutes for smiles to return, for them to become kids again. Our entertainers will juggle, blow bubbles, do crazy dancing, whatever it takes to get kids to laugh. In Idomeni we saw 1,000 child refugees a day every day for 7 weeks. We witnessed incredible transformations: the burden of premature adulthood lifted; children unable to engage becoming popular members of the group; frowns and fear replaced by positivity and confidence.
