On Sunday, 14th May, musicians of the Welsh Sinfonia (and their instruments!) will be travelling across Wales, climbing three of country's most iconic peaks: Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan in just one day in support of the Crescendo project!
For the last five years, the Crescendo project has been successfully building build school orchestras and develop awareness of classical music in five schools across Wales, particularly in areas where there was previously little provision.
We hope to raise £5000, which help ensure the Crescendo project will continue to run for its sixth year!
In the words of the orchestra’s conductor and artistic director Mark Eager: ‘music is essential to the future health and mental well being of our children’; it is clear from feedback from teachers, parents and students alike that the Crescendo is bringing the innumerable benefits of musical engagement into many lives.
In times when Music in schools is especially under threat of extinction, we at the Welsh Sinfonia believe it is of the upmost importance that we continue our mission to build awareness of music for the next generation.
'Just seeing the beaming miles of pride from the pupils when they stood up alongside professional players to take their applause is enough to show how much of an impact this scheme has had on our pupils.'
