40tude's 2018 Sardinia Cycle Challenge

40tude's Cycle Challenge this year will see us tackle the hills of Sardinia.

Over three and a half days from Wednesday 26th to Saturday 30th September 2018 we will be exploring the island through truly spectacular countryside. Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean and with over 13% of the island classified as mountainous and almost 70% of it classified as hilly, we will need to get our hill-climbing legs ready for this lumpy ride!

This Cycle Challenge is one of 40tude's major fund raising events in the year, and our peloton will once again be raising both awareness of colon cancer and vital funds to enable 40tude to continue to help fund bespoke research projects targeted at the early diagnosis and treatment of colon cancer.

There are 40,000 new cases of colon cancer each year in the UK, and 16,000 deaths. This needn’t be the case:  colon cancer is one of the easiest cancers to treat if it is detected early.  The really good news is that this cancer is also preventable in nearly all patients, through regular screening. We recommend that you are screened regularly for colon cancer from your mid-40s.

40tude is working to raise awareness of colon cancer. Heightened awareness of colon cancer is essential, particularly for anyone over 45 and any abdominal symptoms, change in bowel habit or blood in your stool should be discussed immediately with your doctor whatever your age. See www.40tude.org.uk for more details.
