Big Cambridge Calais Sleepout: A Tale of 2 Cities

No one should have to sleep rough in winter. WE'RE CHOOSING TO.

Camcrag and Wintercomfort in cooperation with the Cambridge Churches Homelessness Project are hosting a sponsored rough sleepout on Homeless Sunday, 28 January, at St Giles Church, Cambridge, to raise awareness and practical aid for refugees and homeless in Cambridge and Calais. During the afternoon of the 28th the charities will host a launch event at St. Giles’ open to the public with food, information sharing, speeches and New Year's pledges. A small number of volunteers will then take part in the actual sleepout.  Wintercomfort and CamCRAG will split sponsorship 50/50

Charity begins at home. It doesn't end there.

Wintercomfort needs mugs! Please bring along any large mugs you can donate to the launch event from 4 to 7:30pm.
We’ll use them for the event and afterwards they’ll be used to continue providing warm drinks and soup to Cambridge’s homeless.

Offline fund total includes Simon Pickering’s Wintercomfort fundraising for this event.

While homelessness skyrockets in Cambridge, in Calais and around Northern France another ~1,000 refugees are sleeping rough. These homeless people face the same struggles, even though their situation is not their fault...maybe a lost job, family problems, illness, or even fleeing torture or death. This event will highlight the bitter reality of sleeping outside in winter, and seeks to capture that beautiful, feisty resolve of Cambridge to tackle homelessness in 2018.
