In Coleraine borough and neighbouring boroughs, ZAP makes presentations and provides information to a wide range of schools, community bodies and public bodies about life in Zomba and what can be done to help address some of the difficulties that people face there.
In Zomba a ZAP committee of 10 persons identifies, costs and prioritises projects, passing on selected projects to Coleraine for further consideration and funding. The Zomba group then commissions project delivery and oversees that delivery. ZAP is now funding projects to the value of £50,000pa. The small projects, typically between £1000 to £10,000 each, include fruit trees, chickens, irrigation schemes, food programmes, education scholarships, bicycle ambulances, mosquito nets, foot bridges, school supplies, fire stoves, bee hives and a fish farm. These projects help to meet the very basic needs of the people living at subsistence level in the Zomba District.
