York Mosque and Islamic Centre

Charity description

York Mosque and Islamic Centre logo
Fundraising Appeal to build New Mosque and Islamic Centre.

The early Muslims settled in York about 40 years ago. They began their worship in a house, but as the numbers grew, a Mosque and Islamic Centre was established in Bull Lane in 1982. York has two universities which attract many Muslims from all over the world. Our numbers have grown significantly over the last decade, and the current facilities for up to four hundred worshipers is insufficient.

Plans have been approved by the York City Council for a purpose-built new Mosque and Islamic Centre on the existing site. This new facility is designed to enhance our activities to enable greater interaction with the local host community.

Please visit our website for further details of new facilities and plans for the new building.
