Charity description

Wakefield Naturalists’ Society has been active since 1851.
The society aims to promote an interest in the natural world and in all aspects
of Natural History. Since 2014, the society has maintained a nestbox for
peregrine falcons on Wakefield Cathedral.

Peregrines bred on Wakefield Catheral for the first time in
2015 and a live webcam was brought online in 2016. The camera has allowed many
people to observe and to learn more about these amazing animals.

The Wakefield peregrines are members of a species that has been recovering in recent years
from the harmful effects of man-made chemicals used in the 1950s and 60s. Your donation will enable us to
continue to support these birds and to maintain the camera and internet
streaming which allow the general public to follow their progress.
