Thank you for visiting Wag & Company's mydonate page.
Wag & Company North East Friendship Dogs enables professionally assessed volunteers and their dogs to befriend and visit the elderly across our North East region whether they are in their own homes or whether they are in care or medical establishments.

There are thousands of lonely older people in the North East either in their own homes or in care or medical establishments who have lost friends as they have got older and they can no longer have their own dog . With Wag & Company they have a friend to visit once a week and a cuddle from that much missed pet.

Much is written about the benefits of stroking animals for general wellbeing and for helping to reduce confusion in dementia patients.

Visiting dogs is not a new concept and has always been recognised as a much needed service for the elderly.  However, no other Visiting Dog charity visits people in their own homes and no other Visiting Dog Charity exists in the North East for the North East, determined to make a dent in the loneliness problem in the older dog lover community.

Our ongoing operating costs are kept very low by both the support of our partners and our leadership and management being carried by volunteers.

Our biggest ongoing costs cover the insuring, assessing and equipping of our volunteers as well as the staff costs of manning our office.

We receive no government or other funding so we are totally reliant on the belief and generosity of North East people, businesses and dog lovers.

We will be absolutely transparent about what we receive and how we spend it, ensuring every penny is focussed on delivering our programmes benefitting older dog lovers.
