Victim Care and Advice Service

Charity description

Victim Care and Advice Service logo
The Victim Care and Advice Service - Cleveland, County Durham and Darlington provide free, independent and confidential support for victims of crime and their families to help them cope with the immediate impact of crime and assist in their subsequent recovery.

For many people the need for support is in the immediate aftermath of the crime being committed but for some the full impact is not evident until later.   The service therefore responds to personal circumstances and individual needs at any point following the commission of the crime and regardless of whether it was reported to the police or not.

Equally, the impact of crime can have an emotional and physical impact on family, friends and witnesses. They too are welcome to contact the Victim Care and Advice Service for advice or additional assistance.

For assistance please call Freephone 0303 040 1099

The Victim Care and Advice Service will use your donation to: -
  • Prevent crime
  • Reduce the risk of a person becoming a repeat victim of crime
  • Provide reassurance to those that may feel vulnerable and fear repeat victimisation
Previous VCAS donations have been used to purchase: -
  • Worry Monsters for children and young people to write down their worries and feed them to the Worry Monster to take them away.   This enables parents to understand the fears of their children and provide support to aid their recovery.
  • Call blockers for elderly and vulnerable victims of fraud that are being repeatedly targeted by telephone fraudsters.
  • Crime prevention and reassurance products such as personal alarms, window and door alarms, TV simulators, padlocks, segment timers
Please donate to support our cause.
