The Victoria League for Commonwealth Friendship

Charity description

The Victoria League for Commonwealth Friendship logo
Founded in 1901, The Victoria League for Commonwealth Friendship is a charitable, independent and non-political organisation that connects people from Commonwealth countries, offers affordable student accommodation services
in London for full time international students from Commonwealth countries, and sponsors development endeavors around the world through our donation-driven Overseas Project Fund. Since its inception, The Victoria League has had a history of raising funds for practical solutions.

We are excited to announce the continued sponsorship of RED Project Borneo, as well as a new partnership with A Partner in Education (APIE) in Rwanda.

Rural Education Development (RED) is an
initiative under the Imperial College Union to construct
education centres that provide village pre-school and kindergarten teachers with the infrastructure required to operate their schools. RED has been a great
success and is now fundraising to build a school in Tudangan, Borneo. We contributed £3,500 from our Overseas Project Fund last year, and we have pledged another £1,000 this year.

We will also provide £4,000 to APIE for a secondary school science laboratory in Kigali, Rwanda. This facility is required for school accreditation and will enhance educational opportunities to develop careers and hopefully promote a more gender-balanced workforce, in line with the government's aims to transform Rwanda into a middle-income, knowledge-based society.

All donations will be deposited into the Fund. Monies raised in excess of our £5,000 target will be kept for further projects at the discretion of our Trustees.

Do not hesitate to contact us for additional information.
