The Portsmouth D-Day Museum Trust
The objectives of the Portsmouth D-Day Museum Trust are ‘the promotion, assistance, and improvement of the Portsmouth D-Day Museum and its related activities and of historic sites and other areas of cultural interest relating to the D-Day story’.
Our first priority is to keep the D-Day story alive by transforming the Portsmouth D-Day Museum through a £4.9 million project that will create exciting new exhibitions and a new activities programme and help it become the national D-Day ‘hub’ ahead of the 75th anniversary in 2019.
In March 2018 The D-Day Story, Portsmouth (formerly the D-Day Museum) reopened with a completely refurbished building and new displays funded by a £4m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and other grants and donations. In addition to the funding that has been promised by Portsmouth City Council which runs the D-Day Museum, we need to find additional funds to match this money.
