The Pete Handley Percussion Award

The Pete Handley Percussion Award banner

Charity description

Percussion was Pete’s passion and his aim in life was to pass on this passion through performance, teaching and enthusiastic immersion in all things percussive. His personal project was Box9 Drum line which he founded and which had just taken off when he tragically died in an accident in November 2014. Pete’s dream was to push creative artists together and let them spark off each other.

The Box9 title was to be his ‘umbrella’ brand & Box9 Drumline was just the beginning. His vision was to have Box9 jugglers, Box9 cheerleaders, Box9 ballet dancers, clowns etc. He could then mix & match the creative skill sets into a mobile precision percussion led performance.

The funds from this award will be used to give talented percussionists a chance to further their learning through specialist lessons, use of an instrument or commissioning new pieces of music etc. The aim is to provide a developmental opportunity which for various reasons the student may not have been able to access.
