Charity description

The Pear Tree Fund logo
The Pear Tree Fund offers emotional, physical and practical support to people reaching the end of their lives so that those who wish to can die in the comfort and security of their own homes. Originally known as Halesworth Community Nursing Care Fund (HCNCF), the charity was set up in 1989 and is entirely funded by people’s generosity.
We are now expanding the services we provide by building an innovative one-stop-shop for people who have been diagnosed with cancer or other life-limiting illnesses. Called the Pear Tree Centre, it will provide a wide range of valuable services closer to home for anyone from north east Suffolk or south Norfolk.

Construction work on the Pear Tree Centre, which will be built next to Cutlers Hill Surgery in Halesworth, is due to begin in 2019, with the official opening following in 2020. It will be available to anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer or other life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families, friends and carers, and will provide a wide range of services closer to people’s homes. This will include help understanding a diagnosis, counselling, financial, benefits and legal advice, bereavement support, children and family support services, 'feel good' support and complementary treatments.
Thanks to your generosity, we have raised the majority of the £880,000 needed to construct the building, but need your support to raise the remainder, as well as its projected annual running costs of around £140,000 each year. Every penny really does count and will make a huge difference to vulnerable members of our community when they need it the most.
