The ME Association

Charity description

The ME Association logo
The Ramsay Research Fund is the research arm of the ME Association.
Please help us to further its invaluable work supporting biomedical research into M.E. (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis)/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

The Ramsay Research Fund is named after the late Dr Melvin Ramsay, the consultant who brought ME/CFS to the attention of the medical profession following an outbreak at London’s Royal Free Hospital in 1955

The Ramsay Research Fund is a ‘restricted’ fund. This means that all of the money you give is used for research activity. It cannot be used for any other purpose, not even administration of the fund, which ME Association covers through our general fund.

The Ramsay Research Fund only supports projects that will help lead to:-
• a better understanding of the underlying physical cause of ME/CFS
• the development of a reliable clinical test for the illness, or
• safe effective treatments that will work for more people with M.E.
Biomedical research ME/CFS remains seriously underfunded when compared to the funds that are available for research into other serious conditions. SO WE WANT TO DO MORE! Much more.

Medical research is very expensive - so finding the underlying cause of ME/CFS and effective forms of treatment isn't going to be easy. But that is not going to stop us trying.

The Ramsay Research Fund was set up to find answers.
• how and why M.E. starts;
• how we can develop a test; and better still...
• how we can cure more of the 250,000 people with M.E. in the UK today.....
That’s why we are asking you to help support The Ramsay Research Fund. Through your support, we will continue to build on our very solid progress and expand our work even further.

One day we will find the cause of ME/CFS and have an effective form of treatment and, with your help, that day could come much, much sooner.
