The Legal Support Trusts

Charity description

The Legal Support Trusts logo
Our aim is to improve access to justice for the most vulnerable in society
We do this by raising funds and distributing them to organisations that support those who need legal help but cannot afford it. Receiving legal advice makes an enormous difference to people’s lives, helping to reduce debt, poverty and suffering.
We provide funding and support to charities that give free legal help to those in need
We work closely with the advice and pro bono sector and take a strategic approach to the distribution of funding, accounting for local and regional needs to target resources where they are most needed. We distribute funds to local advice agencies such as Citizens Advice Bureaux and Law Centres.

Raise money to help the most vulnerable people in our society maintain their right to access to justice!

The Legal Support Trusts act independently in seven regions across the country to raise money for organisations who continue to fight for and provide free legal advice and support to those who are unable to afford to pay for it.

With the continuing cuts across the sector, and the increase in poverty due to the recession, more and more people are finding themselves unable to access legal services.

While funding for the advice sector has been cut, particularly since the removal of much of legal aid for humanitarian or social welfare legal advice, the demand for and importance of support from charities to those unable in need has increased dramatically.

The Legal Support Trusts raise essential funds to ensure that services continue to be provided across the country to protect individuals in need of legal assistance.
