The Helen Feather Memorial Trust

Charity description

The Helen Feather Memorial Trust logo
The Trust was established as a registered charity in 2002 in memory of a brave and beautiful girl called Helen who died after an enormous battle against cancer.

The aims of the Trust are to support people with cancer and raise money for carefully selected Cancer Research Projects. We try always to give the money directly to the projects thus avoiding money being spent on administration or management. Before she died, Helen helped raise over £300,000 for cancer project including Clic, the CVI, Gynaecological Research, Macmillan Nurses, St Michael's Hospice and The Barry Read Lab at Bart's Hospital. Before being diagnosed with cancer she gave money each month form her salary to cancer research and care of the elderly. In 2007, the Trust held their 5th Autumn Ball for Cancer at The Hurlingham Club and raised £270,000. Just over £230,000 was given to The Cancer Vaccine Institute to help with Professor Dalgleish's wonderful work in the field of immunology. The rest of the money went to The Royal Marsden Hospital. The ball in 2012 will raise money to kickstart two new and very exciting treatments for ovarian and prostate cancer.
